Abstract: As a branch of Systemic Functional Grammar, the Cardiff Grammar shares the same basic principles and theories as the Sydney Grammar, although it has different opinions upon certain issues. This paper gives a brief introduction to the core theory of the Cardiff Grammar and discusses some issues concerning this grammatical model, hoping to give the reader a better understandin g of the major ideas of this grammar as well as its relationship with the Sydney Grammar.
